Shut down cooling
Shut down coolers are used for the quick cooling of liquid fluids by means of ambient air. These coolers are a special version of liquid coolers and are built similar to air-cooled steam condensers as one-pass-systems. Therefore uneven expansions of the tubes in flow direction are avoided.
For most applications shut down coolers are run circulatively, i.e. a certain amount of flow of the liquid is being pumped through the cooler in a circle until the shut down temperature is reached and the plant can be turned off.
The fans are still in operation until possible heat radiation does not have any damaging influences on the fan blades and the motors anymore.
